The workshop addressed the gender gap on Wikipedia, which has a major influence on shaping perception and knowledge in societies. The participants explored the impact of gender bias through knowledge sharing to create a more inclusive online space and to increase the visibility of women in Wikipedia
With Rita Maliqi, Project Manager at Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group, the group had the opportunity to be trained in hands-on editing and writing articles.
What comes next? By the end of the year, this project will have published Wikipedia articles highlighting the contributions of women in Kosovo.
Vjollca Islami Hajrullahu, Project Manager at forumZFD, emphasized that this project will contribute to greater inclusion of women and their activism on Wikipedia in the Albanian language. Furthermore, the work will focus on women who have contributed to peacebuilding, transitional justice, and dealing with the past. This workshop is an important step towards a more equal and inclusive Wikipedia.
