Creating opportunities for peace
Ukraine: Shaping the future
Education is a particularly effective key to long-term and sustainable conflict resolution. forumZFD starts here, supporting school projects and creating spaces in which open dialogue is possible. Both within the respective groups and between different institutions.
These educational initiatives are a direct response to the social division and political unrest in the country by training young people to become ambassadors for peace within their communities. The aim is not only to arouse interest, but also to build trust. The work of forumZFD shows: Peace is achievable if everyone does their bit.
Conflict competence in schools
It starts in the schools: Together with local partners, forumZFD initiates projects that give teachers and pupils the tools they need to deal with conflicts. The result: a climate of trust that extends beyond the school and into society.
Empathy makes school
Studies show: Preventive measures are more effective in the long term than any reaction to acute crises. A good example of this: the "Peaceful School" project creates an understanding of other people's perspectives and different points of view even among the youngest children.
Through interactive and participatory learning formats, empathy and understanding for diverse perspectives are practised – and social skills and peaceful coexistence are strengthened. You could also say that empathy is the order of the day here.
Building bridges through dialogue
In our pursuit of lasting peace, forumZFD extends the dialogue beyond the boundaries of individual schools. Through our partners, we connect different educational institutions and create vital links through workshops, discussion groups and joint projects. These initiatives are crucial to advancing the peace process and developing a comprehensive understanding of the importance of communication and cooperation.
A practical example: The "Dialogue instead of violence" workshop
"Dialogue instead of violence" is a prime example of the practical implementation of our vision. In this workshop, participants work together to develop methods for non-violent communication. The strategies developed here are aimed at resolving conflicts without violence and promoting deeper mutual understanding.
Voices of participants
Participants in the workshop share their experiences: "By taking part, I learned how to resolve conflicts in a way that respects both sides," says one teacher. A pupil adds: "I saw how important it is to listen and understand other perspectives."
