Community of Practitioners (CoP)

in Butuan

The Community of Practitioners (CoP) is a network for learning and exchange among civil society groups addressing conflicts in the region of Caraga, Mindanao. In 2013, we identified and trained several committed organizations in Non-Violent Conflict Transformation (NVCT), mediation, negotiation, and dialogue. Since then, we accompany the CoP members in approaching and solving intra- and inter-group conflicts in their communities that are often related to disputes about land and resources.

Accompaniment includes regular meetings and updates with the CoP partners and the communities they work with. ForumZFD supports them by providing coaching and helping them in the development of long term strategies. Over time, the CoP members are meant to become experts on Non-Violent Conflict Transformation themselves, passing on their knowledge to other organizations and communities facing conflict.

Since 2017 forumZFD mostly works with two partners in Agusan Del Sur: Our partner in Bunawan, Panaghiusa Alang sa Kaugalingnan ug Kalingkawasan, Inc (PASAKK), is a people’s organization working with Indigenous Peoples, farmers, and women. Their projects are focused on education of IP children through schools of living traditions, protection of the Agusan Marsh, and information and education campaigns on Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

In San Luis, forumZFD work with Pambansang Koalisyon ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan (PKKK), a women’s organization consisting mostly of IP women and farmers. Their projects focus on youth and women livelihood and they partner with different agencies including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
