Addressing Land and Resource Conflicts

Over the course of four years, forumZFD conducted a study of conflict resolution mechanisms, particularly those offered by state agencies to deal with land and resource conflicts in the municipality of Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. In the context of protracted land and resource conflicts being insufficiently addressed by existing mechanisms and a lack of clarity among partner community members regarding the mechanisms available, the study aimed to identify conflict resolution mechanisms offered by line agencies; understand the dynamics of their implementation in practice; and identify potential entry points for civil society engagement. The mapping of mechanisms thus served the purpose of better adapting conflict transformation interventions related to land and resource conflicts and to advance peacebuilding as a whole in the region.
